Croix de Belledonne
In this long weekend of August, I decide to go on hike over 2 days (with tent and everything) with a friend to the Croix de Belledonne, summit of the massif of the same name culminating at 2926m. And, as I a little crazy, I took with me, in addition to the many kg of tent, sleeping bag, mattress, food, water, all my photo material: tripod include. ^^
Besides being able to admire the superb landscapes of high mountains, we had the opportunity to cross the road of some bouquetin, mouflons and even a common frog at the edge of a lake at 2300m. :-)
For your personal culture, this meeting has taught me that this frog is the amphibian who lives at the highest altitudes, up to 2800m in the Alps, thanks Wikipédia for this information. =)
If you are interested in doing this hiking, there is around 1700m a vertical drop and twenty kilometres of distance (round trip) to reach the top. If the way to the lac du Crozet and the two lacs du Doménon are rather easy, the way between the lac du Grand Doménon and the top is only scree. So, a good alpine foot is necessary. A last information, in this altitude, it can remain few snowfields, at certain months of the year (may, june), crampons may become necessary.
Over these two days, I took the opportunity to take some photos of the mountain and its wildlife that I let you discover. :-)
